Community Day Scheduled for September 7
The Missouri Fox Trotting Horse has a rich history is the Missouri Ozarks. For 58 years, the communities in Douglas County and surrounding areas have welcomed Missouri Fox Trotting Horse enthusiasts to the area to celebrate the breed. This year, the MFTHBA would like to thank the communities for their support. On Wednesday, September 7, the MFTHBA will host a Community Day at the Celebration. Admission will be free all day. In addition to competition in the Versatility and Dale Esther Arenas, several special events have been planned throughout the day.
Starting at 1 p.m., attendees will be able to take horseshoe pitching lessons from National Horseshoe Pitchers Association of America (NHPA) and Missouri Horseshoe Pitchers Association sanctioned pitcher, Alfred Mundy. Mr. Mundy has competed in several World and State Championship Tournaments. Recently, he placed 4th in his division at the 2016 World Tournament in Montgomery, Alabama.
The Missouri Department of Conservation will be conducting campfire cooking demonstrations starting at 3 p.m. Larry Lindeman has been an outdoor skills specialist in the Ozark Region for the past 10 years. Throughout the two hour demonstration, Mr. Lindeman will demonstrate cooking trout as well as desserts over the campfire.
Our younger visitors will be excited to enjoy time on the inflatable bounce house and slide, courtesy of Cahows Inflatables, starting at 3 p.m.
In addition to our vendors, visitors will also be able to visit with some of the MFTHBA’s Partner Organizations and Member Benefit Companies starting at 4 p.m. in the Special Events Tent on Vendor Row.
